BabyLegs review and giveaway

Written by valmg on October 13, 2008 – 10:31 pm

Having read a lot about BabyLegs, I was really happy to get a chance to review them myself and see what all of the hub bub was about.

From the website: “Nicole Donnelly, then a stay-at-home mom, created BabyLegs to keep her dear daughter, Sara’s, little legs warm, while she was diaper free to allow bad rashes to heal. This impromptu invention not only allowed Sara’s rash to heal, but also protected her from many elements, made diaper changes quick and easy, kept her knees protected while crawling, and provided sun protection. Beyond all of these benefits, the leg warmers were also very fashionable. After numerous inquiries from other moms about where Donnelly found the little leg warmers, she began selling her invention out of a diaper bag, and the popularity of BabyLegs spread quickly…”

BabyLegs are more than just leg warmers for babies. When worn in the traditional way of thigh to ankle they’ll stay in place and keep your child’s legs looking stylish, warm and protected. They can also be worn on the arms. They can also be worn by older children and even adults on the arms and in different ways on the legs. BabyLegs are 33cm and designed to fit most people. There are five different types of BabyLegs – Supersoft (100% polyester), Original (a blend of 80% Cotton, 15% Polyester, 5% Spandex), Organic Cotton (a blend of 80% Organic Cotton, 15% Polyester, 5% Spandex), Vermont Organic Cotton (a blend of 87% Natural Organic Cotton, 12% Nylon, 1% Lycra) and Vermont Organic Wool (a blend of 88% Natural Organic Wool, 11% Nylon, 1% Lycra). With a huge selection of more than 125 different styles available I guarantee there’s something there for every taste, which is one of the things I really like about them. BabyLegs can be worn year round by both boys and girls. The styles include solids, stripes and fun prints. New this fall is the Academy line, containing nine bold colors and sporty styles. They even have special seasonal prints for Halloween and Christmas. Of special interest is the limited-edition Pink Ribbon Design supporting breast cancer awareness. The company is donating 10% of the proceeds from the sale of this design to the Puget Sound Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and is hoping to raise at least $2,400.

We received the Itsy Bitsy BabyLegs, which I thought were just about the cutest thing I’d ever seen for babies to wear at Halloween. Paired with the right top it looks very much like some of the Halloween costumes that are selling for a small fortune in stores. I tried wearing them on my arm and they were softer than I expected, kept my arm very toasty, and didn’t itch like I wondered if they would.

I can see where these would be useful for anyone to have when traveling. They’re compact and warm. When we go camping in the mountains of Watkins Glen, NY in the summer it can be hot during the day and very cool at night. I’ve always thought it was such a pain to have to pack two sets of clothes, one for warm and one for cool. I could eliminate packing one whole bag by leaving out the cool weather pants and just packing BabyLegs.

I also think they’re great for anyone potty training. There are not many bigger pains in the butt than having to take pants all of the way off to change my son’s pullup if he’s had an accident. He can now wander the house sans pants to make pottying easier without getting chilly and without people thinking that I don’t dress my child.

These are great for babies. I remember when both of my boys were young I discovered that even when babies aren’t moving their pants hike up and leave a gap skin at the bottom of their legs exposed. Baby legs will keep that gap covered. They’re a terrific way for girls to be able to wear dresses on cold and/or windy days as well. I wish they’d had these when both of my boys were starting to crawl, to protect their knees and legs.

BabyLegs are available for purchase through the company website and many other online stores, as well as in retail stores across the US and in as many as 50 other countries around the world.

Thanks to BabyLegs I have a pair of Itsy Bitsy BabyLegs to give away. To enter, visit the BabyLegs online store and then leave a comment on this post stating what two styles of BabyLegs you like the most. US addresses only please. Contest ends Tuesday 10/21/08 at 11:59 pm est. Comments must contain the requested information to be eligible.

Good luck everyone!
