Build A Bear review and giveaway

If you have children you’ve probably heard of Build-A-Bear. If not, I’ll give you a quick rundown. When you go to a Build-A-Bear store you can make your own bear from start to finish. The first thing you do is pick out which bear you’ll be using. Then, if you don’t stop to add sound, you go to the area where you stuff your bear. Then you sew him up (so the stuffing doesn’t come right back out of course), groom him (you don’t send your child out dirty, do you?) and name him (you’re not gonna call him “hey you” are you?). After that you pick up your new friend, birth certificate and all, and make your way home. It’s a lot of fun, even for old folks like me. (If my explanation of making a bear didn’t make sense, click here and you’ll see it on video.) There are so many different bears and animals and clothes I could spend hours (or days) in the store. The problem is, it’s kind of pricey to do all the time.
Problem solved! In response to concerned Moms across the nation, Build-A-Bear is offering a selection of furry friends that will be available for $10 and $12 this holiday season. These new friends will come with a personalized birth certificate and have the same ability to be “pawsonalized” (dressed and given sound) as their more expensive big brothers and sisters that are created in the store. And, just like all Build-A-Bear friends purchased after October 2007, your child’s new friend will come with a code that enables it to be brought to life online in Build-A-Bearville, the Build-A-Bear virtual world.
The Build-A-Bearville online world is free to join. After creating an account your child is able to create a character to represent themselves. After joining your child will be able to play with their furry friends online, go on educational quests and play games. Registered members are able to chat with other members using a safe menu chat system, where only predefined words and phrases may be used.

Look around and decide which animal is your favorite. Then come back here and leave a comment on this post telling me which animal is your favorite and who you’d give the card to if you won. You can earn an additional entries by subscribing to my rss feed, placing my button in your sidebar and blogging about this giveaway. Leave an additional comment for each additional entry you’re qualified for. Contest ends Monday 11/03/08 at 11:59 pm est. US addresses only please. Only comments containing the requested information will be eligible. The winner will be selected using random.org and they must contact me to confirm they wish to receive the prize within three days of my email notifying them they’ve won. Good luck!

I’d use the card for my nephew so that he could get his first B-a-B. But since he’s only 4 months, I’d let his big sister choose one. She’d probably choose the turtle because it’s green and she LOVES green (she’s 4).

My daughters always want us to go in to BAB whenever we’re at the mall, but with two of them to shop for we it gets really expensive really quickly if we go for the whole experience (animal and clothes). If I won I’d use this gc towards taking my girls there this holiday season to each get a new furry buddy. My favorite is that Brilliantly Blue Teddy. She’s soooooooo pretty!

I’d choose the $10 puppy for my oldest daughter. When we found out she is highly allergic to dogs, we had to rehome ours, and she is still heartbroken about it. I bet she’d love a stuffed puppy.
