Return Of Psycho Super Mom review

Written by valmg on November 10, 2008 – 4:12 pm

I’m always up for a good comedy or some decent jokes. I absolutely LOVE to laugh, which I why I gladly accepted the opportunity from the Family Review Network to review a comedy CD called Return Of Psycho Super Mom by Lauren Mayer.

From the website - “Lauren Mayer is a critically acclaimed singer, comic and songwriter who has provided customized entertainment for corporate and private clients for over 20 years. Her unique ability to find humor in anything helps clients make their programs effective and memorable.

Motherhood is full of comedic moments. Lauren Mayer, summa cum laude Yale graduate and mother of two boys ages 12 and 15, has taken some of those moments that all mothers experience and put then into a musical comedy routine. Along with being a talented singer and songwriter Ms. Mayer is also the co-founder and songwriter for Curriculum Rocks. She is a five-time recipient of the San Francisco Cabaret Gold Award and winner of numerous other awards including Peninsula Community Foundation Arts Fund Grant recipient, Dr. Toy: Best Vacation Product, I Parenting Media: Recommended Back To School Products and Children’s Music Web: Best Educational Product and Best New Artist for Younger Children

While a CD of comedic songs isn’t something I’d typically get for myself, I did enjoy listening to this one. Only another woman can relate to my feelings on a day to day battle with gravity, and Lauren captures it perfectly in “Defining Gravity”. And every mother can relate to “Tell Me Another One”, one of my favorites on the album. I “I Hate To Exercise Blues” might as well have been written about me. Any woman who’s battled the bulge will appreciate this song. I’m convinced, after reading a bit of Lauren’s blog, that she could also be successful at stand up comedy.

Return Of Psycho Super Mom contains thirteen original songs and retails for  $15.00. The CD is available to purchase direct on Lauren’s website, as well as from online retailers including Amazon and CD Baby, and from comedy sites like Picklehead Music.
