Review of Avon Moisture Therapy Oatmeal Hand Cream

I have never had dry hands or needed to use hand cream until I changed careers and went to work in the medical billing field. As soon as I walk into my office my hands start feeling dry. I feel like I’m constantly putting hand cream on. I believe this is mostly due to the fact that I handle a lot of paper in an office that has a lot of paper and an old ventilation system. I keep trying different creams on my quest for just the right one. The one that will work well enough so that I don’t feel like my hands are dry five minutes after applying. This is a review of Avon Moisture Therapy Oatmeal Hand Cream.
One of the reasons I tried this particular cream is because I was told it has almost no scent. A woman that told me this is a woman that I work with who is extremely sensitive to most beauty product scents. If she is exposed to heavily scented creams, lotions and sprays she becomes unable to breathe. The tube states that this cream is for dry, itchy skin, and that it contains colloidal oatmeal as an anti-itch ingredient. My skin doesn’t itch but when at work it’s certainly dry so it’s worth a try. The tube for this cream has a screw on cap with a flat end, making it able to be stood up on its end. The picture on the left is of the tube of lotion as you’d purchase it.
I unscrew the cap and squeeze some of the cream into the palm of my hand. To me it looks almost the color and texture of some baby rash ointments. It is rather creamy and thick, when I apply it it doesn’t move. The picture on the right is of the lotion on my arm. The cream is at room temperature and feels warm. It does not feel refreshing or cooling. On the plus side, the information I’d been given was correct. It has no scent whatsoever. After rubbing it in for 15 seconds or so I can no longer see it and my hands don’t feel greasy. My hands feel nice. Fifteen minutes go by and I feel almost like I haven’t applied any cream because my hands are feeling dry again. I did need to reapply after washing my hands.
Avon Moisture Therapy Oatmeal Hand Cream comes in a 4.2 fluid ounce tube. It regularly sells in the catalog for $3.99 and I got mine on sale for $1.99. There is a matching body lotion as well. I don’t know how well it works if you have itchy skin on your hands because I don’t, but I can see where the thick coating might help decrease itching. It didn’t fit my needs, but if you’re looking for something that’s not greasy you ought to consider this. I’d have to stay neutral on this product, I don’t feel it would be fair to the product to recommend either for or against it. If you try this, or have already tried this, let me know your thoughts on it.
