Review of Surpass Hosting

Written by valmg on January 30, 2008 – 7:00 pm

I have been a customer of Surpass Hosting for over three years now. When I first started looking for a web host I wanted a host strong enough to remain in business while remaining highly competitive in the hosting marketplace. I did a lot of surfing doing some comparison shopping and read a lot of forums looking for the information I could base my decision on. I had to because there were so many hosts out there and I knew nothing about any of them. All I knew was what I wanted, what I needed and what I could afford.

I didn’t really want to go with a very small host because I was concerned they wouldn’t be able to remain in business. I didn’t really want to go with a huge host because I don’t like feeling like just another dollar sign. I needed affordable hosting that would be easy to use because at the time I knew absolutely nothing about hosting or anything else involved with running a website. It took me almost one full month to make my decision to host with Surpass. I signed up and have never once looked back.

When I signed up with Surpass their main offers were shared hosting and reseller hosting. Since then they have expanded to also offer VPS servers and dedicated servers. Their pricing remains affordable and highly competitive. The packages are a great value for the features you get in return. Their bandwidth and hard drive space is competitive or better than what the competitors offer. They offer cpanel, which is a user friendly way to manage everything related to your hosting. Surpass is located in Florida, in the USA.

Their two entry level packages for shared hosting are $6 per month and $50 per year. The $6 per month shared package currently offers 200 gb of storage space and 2,000 gb of monthly bandwidth and allows hosting of up to additional domains. Their two entry level reseller packages are $15 per month and $120 per year and allow hosting of unlimited domains. The entry level reseller package currently offers 20gb of storage space and 2,000 gb of monthly bandwidth available to split up between all of the hosted domains. The reseller packages also include an additional separate package for your main domain. I started out with the $15 per month reseller and it still fits my needs. My monthly price has never increased yet any time plan features were upgraded my account was upgraded. I have uptime monitored and mine is usually about 99.8% to 99.9%.

Surpass offers an online help desk that is available 24 hours a day. Tech has been able to address any problem I have ever presented to them, some of which were my own creation. But, if you have a problem the first thing you should do is check the forums to see if anyone else has ever encountered it and posted a solution. A lot of computer and web savvy people can be found in their forums, and they represent a wealth of knowledge and many years of experience. Those online forums are called Surmunity and they are wonderful resource for information and problem solving, a great place to meet new people online and have some fun. There’s usually something going on there, whether it be an interesting thread or a contest. It’s also usually the first place you can learn about upcoming events like special sales.

I highly recommend Surpass Hosting. They’re online at www.surpasshosting.com. and you should definitely consider them if you’re looking for a host.
