Review of True Lemon packets

Written by valmg on August 22, 2008 – 11:50 am

This week I received a sample of True Lemon crystallized citrus packets. I always have a bottle of water with me so I was looking forward to trying out these portable crystallized lemon packets.

The packaging states that one 0.8g packet is the equivalent of one large lemon wedge and that suggested use is one packet per 10 to 20 ounces of water. It contains no calories, no sugars and no artificial sweeteners. I used a cold 16.9 ounce bottle of spring water. The power easily dispersed into the water with a couple of gentle shakes. The water stayed clear. I’d been hoping for a stronger flavor, more like unsweetened lemonade. I was able to taste only the faintest hint of lemon when I drank it. In fact, I may have imagined it. Since I had a second packet of the Lemon I dumped it into my bottle, which was down to about 14 ounces. This time I could taste lemon although not very strongly.

I love the idea of flavor packets for water. I don’t a lot of soda and we all drink a lot of water in my house. It’s nice to change it up once in a while with a little flavor. Sadly, I was very disappointed with this product and would not buy it to use with water. Maybe someone would find it useful to put in a cup of hot tea. These packets can also be used in recipes, of which many can be found right on the True Lemon website. I didn’t try using it for cooking. True Lemon is available in and can be bought in grocery stores and online at truelemon.com. One box retails for approximately $3.29.

  1. Thanks for posting an honest review! I’ve read other (positive) reviews about this product, and had considered trying it. I just haven’t seen it in my store yet. Now, I don’t think I will, because I’d only use it for my water bottle, too.

    Thanks!
