Hello Kitty MP3 Player review and giveaway

I know Hello Kitty came out in the US when I was around twenty or so but I really don’t remember it. I never would have guessed that she’d still be around all these years later and that she might be more popular than ever. I know little girls and adults alike who adore her, which is why I was not surprised to discover that she’s got her own MP3 player.
The Hello Kitty MP3 player, made of plastic, comes with three faceplates (red, white and pink, all featuring Hello Kitty) that can be snapped on and a pair of pink headphones. The AAA battery powered 1 GB unit is able to hold up to 1360 different songs or play for about 64 hours. A built in microphone is available for voice recording.
Included is MusicExpress software, which allows music formatted as a WMA, WAV or MP3 file to play. The software does allow the user to create playlists, a la iTunes. The player connects to the computer through the USB port and will work on Windows computers using Windows 2000, XP or Vista on a Pentium II 300MHZ or higher processor.
The unit is compact and light. It is cute and I’m sure any Hello Kitty lover would be thrilled to have it. I liked that the player was easy to start using and that it also can function as a USB flash drive. I didn’t care for the earphones. They had no foam cover to protect both them and my ears, and the sound just wasn’t the quality it should have been. The same songs sounded much fuller when I tried using our other ear buds. With a little practice (I’m an iPod user) navigating the menus wasn’t too difficult. This would really make a terrific gift for a girl getting her first MP3 player because of the character and the low price point.
The Hello Kitty 1 GB MP3 player is made by Sakar (corrected since original post reading Sanrio) and retails for about $39 and can be purchased at Target, Toys R Us, and Wal-mart.

Actually this would be perfect for my little sister. Her birthday is april 15 and I still have nothing for her. I am a huge believer in the power and necessity of music, hence my blog and hobby, and would love to encourage her to love music just as much as me.
