Jota Sox Review And Giveaway

Written by valmg on August 23, 2009 – 6:00 am

I have those hard heels that lots of people have. About twenty years ago some of my in-laws told me they kept their feet soft by putting lotion on them, followed by a pair of socks, each night. They all swore their feet were super soft and that they swore by this method. I thought about trying the lotion and socks but could never get past the idea that I’d be using socks just to cover with lotion which I’d then have to put into the wash with the rest of my clothes. So I never tried it. Now you know why I was curious and accepted an offer to review Jota Sox.

Jota Sox were developed to meet a growing need among podiatrists, dermatologists, spas and individuals who were looking for a product to increase the effectiveness of both prescription and over the counter moisturizers…. Jota Sox include soft and comfortable disposable latex or non-latex socks and outer cotton socks that you put on after the application of your favorite cream, lotion or ointment. Jota Sox act as a barrier, allowing the lotion to absorb deeply into your feet instead of absorbing into a cotton sock. The cotton sock is worn over the Jota Sox, which holds the Jota Sox in place and adds the heat needed to allow maximum penetration of the applied moisturizer.

The starter set I received included three pair of disposable socks and one pair of cotton socks.

To use Jota Sox you put your lotion or cream on your feet and then put your feet into the disposable socks, which feel like those disposable gloves doctors wear.

Then you put the cotton socks on over the disposable socks. Then you go to sleep (or relax or whatever). After you do this for a couple of days your feet are supposed to be softer.

I used Jota Sox on one foot only, so I’d have a point of reference to use for comparison. I wore the socks for four nights in a row. Now I understand that the disposable socks probably shouldn’t be loose because they wouldn’t hold in heat as well but I thought the socks should be bigger. But I have huge feet. (Turns out Medium would not be my size. I’d need the Large.) Anyway. My feet felt hot on each of the nights and I almost gave in to my urge to take them off. I hate being hot. But I wanted to be fair so I stuck it out. After wearing the socks for four nights my left foot did seem a bit softer but a bit less than I’d hoped for.

A box of Jota Sox containing three disposable pairs of socks and one pair of cotton socks sells for $20. A set containing one pair of disposable socks and one pair of cotton socks sells for $10. I myself think the product is a bit expensive at this scale, I think larger quantity packages would be most helpful.

  26. I don’t really take care of them. I prefer to go get pedicures a few times a year and let the pros do it. But I guess I could save myself a ton of money if I put more effort into it!!
