Vaseline Intensive Rescue Clinical Therapy review and giveaway
Written by valmg on January 18, 2009 – 9:04 pm

We use a good amount of skin lotion in our house. We put it on CJ’s knees and legs because they get very dry, especially in the winter. RB uses it on his legs because he gets gets winter itch every year. He itches the most at night and when he scratches his legs it makes an awful dry skin noise that drives me nuts. I have poor circulation around one of my ankles and I’m afraid that if my skin gets too dry it’ll crack and lead to other problems. So, I use lotion on my legs to try and prevent them from drying out and cracking. When I was asked if I wanted to try a new prescription strength lotion I gladly agreed, figuring there was nothing to lose.
This story behind Vaseline Intensive Rescue Clinical Therapy Lotion is actually pretty interesting. Vaseline made this product and wanted to demonstrate that it was powerful and would be effective even under extreme conditions. They asked Petal Ruch, a voice coach and mother of four, to try the product and, if it worked, start a word of mouth campaign to prescribe it to others. Did I mention Petal lives in Kodiak, Alaska where the extremely cold and icy weather conditions leave many of the residents with dull, dry and cracking skin? Through the word of mouth campaign started by Petal, more then 600 people have been prescribed Vaseline Intensive Rescue Clinical Therapy Lotion.

So what is it about Vaseline Intensive Rescue Clinical Therapy that makes it different? It’s a prescription-strength lotion that is available without a prescription. Actually, some would argue that it’s better then a prescription lotion because (a) you don’t need a prescription to get it and (b) in tests it was found to provide 60% more moisture than a prescription lotion. It is dermatologist tested, hypoallergenic and safe for all skin types. The product is available in a lightly fragranced version as well as an unfragranced version.
The samples I received were of the unfragranced version. I personally don’t mind a light fragrance but one of my coworkers is very sensitive to scents so I try to avoid them when possible. She, along with another coworker and myself, goes through a lot of hand lotion so I brought a bottle to work for everyone to try. I thought the lotion was thick and creamy without being greasy. It didn’t leave any residue on my hands after putting it on. Minnie (the one sensitive to scents) was able to try the lotion without any problem. My other coworker Sylvia loved it. I prescribed a bottle for her and her husband Mortimer, who’s hands get so dry that they crack. Since the lotion lasted the morning at work I decided to try it at home. It’s been unbearably cold this week and I’ve been able to actually see the dry skin and damage on my legs. Without thinking I scratched my leg because it was itching and the skin turned red and looked like it was going to crack. I applied the Vaseline and it did help calm the itching. By the end of the second day of applying it my legs weren’t itchy or visibly dry any more. Based on my experience so far, I’m hopeful that by the end of the week my leg will feel as good as new. I’ll also be prescribing a bottle to my father based on my experience, since he has spots on his arms and legs that are so dry they’re the color of white ash and they feel like sandpaper.
I recommend Vaseline Intensive Rescue Clinical Therapy lotion. The lotion is available in stores nationwide wherever other Vaseline products are sold, and online. The large 6.8 fluid ounce bottle retails for approximately $6. Aside from working well, what I like most about the lotion is that it’s affordable, unlike the expensive $20-$30 bottles of lotion that are out there. My husband has very dry sensitive skin. He has gone to a Dermatologist and they gave him a script for some cream/lotion. Went to get it filled and it cost me $80 for a 2 weeks supply and that is with insurance!! We have tried probably every lotion there is out there except the Vaseline Intensive Rescue Clinical. To tell the truth I am so tired of buying lotion and it not working so I would LOVE to win this lotion since I have been wanting him to try it. Thanks for the chance to win!!

Boy oh boy could I use this!!! We have two little ones and are in the process of potty training - that means we’re hand-washing like CRAZY! We also live in MN and the weather has been pretty rough this winter with days on end of sub-zero temps (a MAJOR killer on hands!!). And to top it all off I have eczema, so I’m like the dry skin capital of the WORLD!!
I’ve tried a million kinds of lotions (both OTC and prescription) with minimal success, but this product sounds like it might actually work!

My skin has become more sensitive as I’ve gotten older. From the intense cold this past week, my skin on the inside of my arms and legs got crazy chapped and sore, then itchy. I’ve NEVER had this happen to me before and I think using this lotion would prevent it in the future.

I need to be prescribed a bottle for my ten year old daughter. She has severe eczema and this time of year is horrible for her. She suffers so badly with the dry patches of skin. Even Eucerin (which the doctor suggested) doesn’t help much!

With my age knocking on the door to the BIG 50 I have noticed that no matter how much I apply lotion to my skin it always seems so dry. I have tried everything under the son and nothing seems to working or lasting.

I should be prescribed a bottle because my skin is very dry and becomes even more so in the winter. I’m an elementary school teacher and I either wash my hands and/or use drying hand sanitizer many times a day. My skin really need the non-greasy moisturizing of this spectacular lotion!

I need to be prescribed because looking at my hands is like looking at an 80 year old woman’s hands (who doesn’t use lotion)! They are cracked & scaly. In the winter sometimes they get so bad that they crack open & bleed, which really stings!
